Hello, fellow Graffiti Coupe nuts!!
First of all, thanks a bunch to
Rick and friends for all the hard work and research in putting the
ProjectTHX138 web-site together. This is a beacon for all of us Graffiti
coupe nuts who've been tripping around in the dark for so many years. I owe
you a cheeseburger, Rick!
Well, my Graffiti clone will soon be turn-key and ready to roll on the
streets of Phoenix. The body is a New Age Motorsports production. The motor
is a 327 complete with a man-a-fre and 4 Rochester 2Gs. The tranny is a
Super T-10 4-speed. The only thing I lack doing now is to plumb the chassis
for gas and brake lines, toss the body on, wire the electrical system and
some other minor details and "get'er done". The headers have been the
hardest part of the car so far. WE fabricated an existing set of "raw"
Speedway CBR-100 headers. Lots of expensive modification and welding had to
be done to get them "Graffiti Correct". They're jet-coated now and the
chassis just came back from powder coat. I'll send some photos out to Rick
to post to the site and will continue to provide photos as I progress on the
project. To get the car as "Graffiti Correct" as I could, my good friend
Tommy DerCole of Rochester, New York and I came up with about 400 photos of
the original car. Over the past 4 years, Tommy and I have had been beating
our heads together to determine exactly what parts are actually on the real
car. We coined the phrase "Graffiti Correct". I flew to San Francisco and
met Rick Figari (the car's owner) and Paul LeMatt. Rick allowed me to photo
the car and even sit in it, and I got finally got to meet Paul. Well, I'll
keep you all informed on the car's progress. For you "new" guys, get a New
Age body!!!! You'll never regret it. Ed at new Age will really take good
care of you!
